Public transportation within the city of Rimouski is provided by the Société des transports de Rimouski, an organization that brings together accessible paratransit and regular public transit taxi services.

In September 1993, the City of Rimouski led the way in setting up a public transportation system using shared taxis, called Taxibus. After the municipal merger, the area served by Taxibus was extended to respond to the new needs of the greater Rimouski region and the INTER-Taxibus service was established.

Taxibus provides public transportation in the following districts: Saint-Germain, Sainte-Odile, Saint-Robert, Saint-Pie-X, Terrasse Arthur-Buies, Nazareth, Sacré-Coeur and the Sainte-Agnès sector.

The eastern sector of the INTER-Taxibus service connects Rimouski-Est and Pointe-au-Père with all the Taxibus stops and with the southern sector of INTER-Taxibus.

The southern sector of the INTER-Taxibus service connects Sainte-Odile and Sainte-Blandine/Mont-Lebel with all the Taxibus stops and with the eastern sector of INTER-Taxibus.

This simple and efficient public transportation system is convenient for the clientele and financially feasible for a city the size of Rimouski. More than 100,000 trips are made annually by Rimouski’s public transportation clients.

In a word, Taxibus and INTER-Taxibus are the pride of the Rimouski community, offering public transportation — just a phone call away!  Dial 418 723-5555 and reserve your seat!  Just one call is needed to arrange for one or more trips.
